WRITINGS OF MARY MAGDALENE

WRITINGS OF MARY MAGDALENE

Archeological digs!  Oh I dig them!  I especially enjoy traveling the back roads of my soul and into the dark nooks and crannies that are so similar to the Qumran caves along the Dead Sea.  It is here where light often erupts into incredible “finds,” treasures never before discovered.  And it was here that I found the Writings of Mary Magdalene..

From what I can gather, these are Mary’s reflections as she lives each day of her life without Jesus’ physical presence.  It becomes obvious that Jesus was the Love of her life.  As I translate each of these reflections from their ancient language, I so identify with Mary in my yearning to be with you all the time.  And the YOU can be anyone your yourself yearn for, including God.

Here is what I have translated to date.

How I remember, Lord,
Walking with you, hand in hand,
Dancing in the temple courtyard
Early in the morning.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
The first time
I laid eyes on you.
You held me so tightly
With your own eyes.
I knew instantly what it is
To love and be loved.

Precious memories, alive, treasures.
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Bathing you,
Drying your feet
With my hair,
Leaving behind
Whatever part of me
Would cling to you,
Strands of my hair, my scent.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
One Sabbath morning,
When I thought you had died.
My heart ached.
I could make no sense of your departure.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Seeing you naked.
I did not mistake you
For the gardener.
I knew full well
You were you.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Eating my favorite dish with you.
My sister fussing in the kitchen,
Making a scene.
I laugh even now,
Hearing your comment to her!
She did not speak to me for days!

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
You showing up late to my brother’s tomb.
I wanted at first to scold you,
And I did.
And then you wept.
I wanted to comfort you,
And I did.
To my surprise, you let me.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Following you everywhere.
I kept imagining one day
You would tire of me.
It never happened.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Drinking wine with you
At the wedding feast.
And then we danced.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Dancing with you at the wedding feast.
Then you danced with everyone else.
You reassured me.
My heart could live on
Forever, if only
I let it escape my jealousy.
Yes,
Let it breathe free and freely
Like your heart.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Missing you for days on end
When you traveled to the desert to pray.
I begged to go with you,
And the answer was always No.
Day after day, one day at a time,
I watched the shimmering horizon
Till it finally gave birth to your silhouette.
Upon seeing me,
Your eyes told me I was with you the entire time.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Running to the tomb.
My heart raced as I somehow knew
You had come back,
Dare I say,
Come back for me.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Praying with you.
I was stunned when you turned to me,
Your eyes alive, speaking
The ancient words of Solomon’s Song,
“I am yours
You are mine.”

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.

I remember, Lord,
Hearing the noise of the crowd
A sign you were coming home,
Perhaps this time to stay.

Precious memories, alive, treasures,
What I hold onto as I search for you,
Knowing you are nowhere to be found,
Except right here,
Tucked away softly,
Softly in my heart.
